Ever since my brother and I were young, one of our favorite pastimes growing up in Illinois was locking ourselves in our room for days at a time and making something. We were fascinated with video cameras and tape recorders and the possibilities they created. We eventually learned how to write songs, perform them, and record them in our bedroom after a lot of trial and error. Even though we're grown now, not that much has changed with our process.
Bob showed me part of a Christmas song he wrote a few days ago. He wanted to finish the song, record it, and put it out before Christmas. I told him it was too late and too much work. I wasn't feeling the Christmas spirit. We tabled it to work on something else. Then he convinced me that we could do whatever we wanted. Nobody was stopping us except ourselves. We could record whatever we wanted and put it out. And his unique song reminded me of the magic of youth and the spirit of Christmas that fascinated us as kids.
So we started to work. And over the last three days, we recorded, produced and engineered our first original Christmas song. The song imagines what it would be like to encounter Santa Claus in your home on Christmas night - the excitement and mystery (and terror) that would incite. We wanted to share it with you, our fans, directly.
The song can be streamed or downloaded here at Bandcamp, or you can listen on YouTube here. It will make it to Spotify and iTunes soon as well.
We are excited to be continuing on into 2017 with more passion than ever before to keep writing and performing our songs all over the country. Look out for a new album and many new songs soon. Merry Christmas from our whole crew to yours.

"BLACK COAL HEART"
29 SEPTEMBER 2016
Growing up as the sons of a West Point graduate, we've always had a special reverence for the flag and the country we all call home. It's been sad for us to see some of the things that have been going on in the last several months. We wrote a song that we wanted to share with you now. We are ever grateful for you for listening to our music and being a part of what we are trying to do, and we hope that the song will mean something to you. Please share the video if you like it.
"Nightburn is a song about waking up one day and finding yourself in a place you never thought you'd be. It's also about pain and broken pride, and walking through some dips in the road. We filmed the video all over Los Angeles for a month, shooting everyday around sunset for that delicate, magical light. We ended up meeting people from all walks and stages in their life... homeless, poor, rich, busy, angry, happy... at one point we almost got arrested trying to get a shot of the city. I think the feeling in the song is universal. No one knows where we'll end up."
We're very excited to release a new music video for our cover of John Denver's classic song "Take Me Home, Country Roads."
We showed our video to Bill Danoff, one of the original songwriters, and he said "Wonderful singing and playing. Beautiful video. You know I'm a city kid myself but I got a nice feel for country life from that."
We're very excited to release our new album "Sleeping Giant"! Check out the album on iTunes here! And leave a review!
